Weltmuseum Wien

Weltmuseum Wien, part of the Kunsthistorisches Museum group, is one of Vienna’s major museums dedicated to cultures from around the world. Located at Heldenplatz, it developed from the former Museum of Ethnology and houses internationally significant collections.

The permanent exhibition is presented across 14 galleries and draws heavily on collections assembled by members of the Habsburg imperial family as well as Austrian travellers, explorers and collectors.

Further exhibitions explore contemporary questions surrounding cultural identity, society and the ways cultures encounter and influence one another.

The wider museum complex also includes collections devoted to arms, armour, hunting and court culture.
