Museum Hundertwasser is located at KUNST HAUS WIEN in Vienna’s 3rd district. Founded by Friedensreich Hundertwasser in 1991, the building itself reflects many of the artist’s characteristic architectural and design principles and complements the nearby Hundertwasserhaus.
Alongside temporary international exhibitions, the museum presents an extensive permanent collection of Hundertwasser’s work across several levels.
Paintings, graphic works, tapestries, architecture and applied art provide visitors with an introduction to the many different areas of Hundertwasser’s artistic practice.
The exhibition also explores Hundertwasser’s environmental commitment and the story of his ship “Regentag”. His ideas about an architecture designed in harmony with people and nature are an important theme throughout the museum.
Visitors can discover Hundertwasser’s distinctive use of colour, his graphic techniques and his experiments with textiles and tapestry.
The architectural section presents his criticism of straight lines and rigid rationalism and introduces visitors to his unconventional ideas about buildings, nature and urban life.
