Belvedere 21

Belvedere 21 is the Belvedere’s museum for contemporary art. The building itself is an icon of post-war modernist architecture. Designed by Karl Schwanzer as the Austrian pavilion for the 1958 Brussels World’s Fair, it was later reconstructed in Vienna near the Schweizergarten.

The museum provides extensive exhibition space for Austrian and international contemporary art as well as projects connected with film and music.

Its steel-frame construction and large glazed halls create a distinctive setting for art from recent decades. The award-winning architecture is an important part of the museum experience itself.

The programme includes changing international exhibitions, performances, concerts, readings and lectures.

Visitors can also enjoy food and drinks at the venue’s bar.
